Additional Context for Carlson Applications
Most successful Carlson applicants had all of the following at the time of application:
- An average cumulative GPA of 3.7. Note: This is across all college coursework, so UMN GPA combined with PSEO, CIS, and classes taken at another college/university.
- At least two or more experiences outside of the classroom that demonstrate leadership and collaboration skills, including one that is currently active. Most applicants had more than two.
- Two or more prerequisite classes completed with a B+ or higher.

Design Your Own Major
Inter-College Program
Offered through CCAPS, this option allows you to design a two-area, three-area, or interdisciplinary thematic major across colleges.

Individualized Degree Program
Offered through CLA, the Bachelor of Individualized Study (BIS) allows you to combine three areas of concentration (one can be outside of CLA) into one major. CLA also offers the Individually Designed Interdepartmental Major (IDIM) which focuses on a unifying theme by combining courses from three or more CLA departments.
