Social Justice

The social justice minor offers students the opportunity to theorize about the meanings of social justice and practice "doing" social justice advocacy in community organizations. Students create socially just communities and respectful spaces for all opinions in dialogue-based classrooms. Teaching faculty, students, and community groups become partners in creating and sharing in an authentic, collective learning experience. The program is based on the belief in equity and fairness in every aspect of human experience, the importance of recognizing the struggles for liberation, and the social movements of many peoples globally.
