Associate Director & CAPE Coach
Where are you from, and how did you end up at the U of M?
I am from Marshfield, WI, which is about 3 hours east of here in the middle of the state. I came to the U of M first as an undergraduate student largely due to my campus tour experience. I felt immediately at home on the campus, and everyone I interacted with made me feel very welcome! After earning my bachelor's and deciding to pursue a career in higher education, it was only a matter of time before I knew I would eventually return to work here.
Tell us about your schooling!
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with a minor in Communication Studies. I also have a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Student Personnel, College Student Affairs.
What do you love most about CAPE?
The people and the mission. I get to work with AMAZING staff who all are very passionate about the work they do. I also feel very strongly about the importance of exploration (of self, majors, careers, anything really!), and enjoy getting to have meaningful conversations with students everyday about who they are and what they want to do with their lives.
What's something that makes you unique, or that most people might not know about you?
I don't know if this makes me unique, but I am an absolute sci-fi/fantasy geek. Any day, any time, I would be happy to discuss Star Wars, LOTR, Harry Potter...you name it!
What job would you do for free?
Kitten therapist. I would travel around, giving people the opportunity to relieve stress by playing with a bunch of kittens. The kittens would also be part of a rescue, so hopefully would then be adopted along the way. Check out this video (it would bring so much joy!)
