Meet Aya!


Aya Maruyama

CAPE Coach

Where are you from, and how did you end up at the U of M?

I was born and raised in Japan. My graduate program brought me to the U of M and I've been in MN ever since!

Tell us about your schooling!

My undergraduate major was Psychology and my graduate degree was in Educational Psychology.

What do you love most about CAPE?

I get to work with students who are at the important stage of their college career. Also I love how CAPE is always open to try new things out.

How would you define your role at CAPE, in your own words?

I'm a CAPE coach who works with all students, but I have a special focus on better supporting exploring international students.

What is your favorite type of cereal, and why?

Chocolate Cheerios. You will have chocolate milk after eating all the cereals!

What's your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Spend time with my family, usually doing some kids friendly activities for the season.

If you had the power of teleportation, where would you go first?

An overwater bungalow in Tahiti (especially in winter time)
